چکیده

Background In pulmonary arterial hypertension (PH), abnormal wave reflections play an important part in pathophysiology and can be assessed using wave intensity analysis (WIA). However, conventionally this technique requires simultaneous invasive measurement of pulmonary artery pressure and velocity. Therefore, we have developed a novel non-invasive technique that uses high temporalresolution phase-contrast MR (PCMR) flow and area data to perform WIA. The aim of this study was to establish any differences in wave reflections between patients with PH and healthy volunteers.

Assessment of ventriculo-arterial interaction in pulmonary arterial hypertension using wave intensity analysis.

Wave intensity analysis (WIA) is a recently described haemodynamic analysis methodology which enables assessment of ventriculo-arterial interactions via time-domain analysis of pressure and flow waveforms [1]. It enables quantification of wave energy, separation of waves into forward and backward components, and estimation of wave speed [2]. To date, WIA has not been applied to the pulmonary ar...

بررسی شدت نسبی سیگنال تصاویر Magnetic Resonance در بافت رترودیسکال و عضله پتریگوئید خارجی و رابطه آن با یافته‌های Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Background and Aims: Disc displacement is the most common temporomandibular joint disorder and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the gold standard in its diagnosis. This disorder can lead to changes in signal intensity of magnetic resonance (MR). The purpose of this study was evaluation of correlation between relative signal intensity of MR images of retrodiscal tissue, superior and inferior ...

Noninvasive pulmonary artery wave intensity analysis in pulmonary hypertension

Pulmonary wave reflections are a potential hemodynamic biomarker for pulmonary hypertension (PH) and can be analyzed using wave intensity analysis (WIA). In this study we used pulmonary vessel area and flow obtained using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) to implement WIA noninvasively. We hypothesized that this method could detect differences in reflections in PH patients compared with healthy ...

Novel method of quantifying pulmonary vascular resistance by use of simultaneous invasive pressure monitoring and phase-contrast magnetic resonance flow.

BACKGROUND Pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) quantification is important in the treatment of children with pulmonary hypertension. The Fick principle, used to quantify pulmonary artery flow, may be a flawed technique. We describe a novel method of PVR quantification by the use of magnetic resonance (MR) flow data and invasive pressure measurements. METHODS AND RESULTS In 24 patients with ei...

Intensity speckle MR elastography

Introduction: Magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) allows the measurement of the mechanical properties of living tissue by combining shear waves and motion sensitive MRI [1]. In classical MRE, shear wave images are evaluated using an appropriate wave inversion technique for calculating an estimate of the spatial distribution of the shear modulus within the region of interest [2]. Problem: Wave...
